Our plans

Summer 2008

For summer 2008 we plan our first serious trip, THE PROJECT NORTH CAPE.

The idea of this travel is not new. For some time we think about this, but before 6 months we started to make plans for it.

First I would like to explain what is North Cape, to all of you who don't know. North Cape is the northest piece of land in Europe, well not exactly, because just 1,5 kilometers further is that point, but... Anyway, lot of people are arguing about that also, because that point is on island Mageroy. Some people think that it should be or on continental part of Europe, or if we count islands also then on island Svalbard, 1000 kilometers northern.

Well, we don't care, and it is not important for our trip. Many travelers say it is amazing place, and if you count in that we will travel by motorcycles.... ahhh!

Here is Our plan. First who will go:

- Davor Lazić (me) - Temerin/Serbia - Honda Transalp

- Balaž Jožef - Temerin/Serbia - Honda Transalp

- Ovidiu Ion Bobes - Brasov/Romania - BMW F650GS

- Omar Mansour - Egypt - probably Honda Transalp

- Ivan Božović - Montenegro - BMW K1200S

- Blažo - Montenegro - Yamaha TDM900

Except us, on the road will also be Ovidiu's wife Anca Bobes, and they son Ion Bobes, but they will travel by car because Ioni is too small for bike trip, especially this big.

Ivan and Blažo will probably go with us just half of the trip and they route back will be another then ours. The trip should be long around 10.000 kilometers, but as on every trip this is always more, so we count 2.000km more, so it should be around 12.000 kilometers. We will make this in 3 weeks (22 days), because that's all our time we have.

We will start on 21st of Jun 2008, from Temerin. We will cross 9 countries, without Serbia), Hungary, Slovakia, Czech, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Poland. The plan is to ride every day about 450-500 kilometers, but we will try to ride more on part from Temerin to Denmark and in Sweden. That way we will maybe spare a day or two for slower ride through fiords in Norway, and to make some spare time for unplanned things.

Here is the plan:

We have just few points of interest very important for us:

* Oslo - Viking museum and  Kon Tiki museum

* Trollstigen on north of Norway - narrow path up to the mountain made of 11 curves

* fiords of Norway

* North Cape

* Rovaniemi, Santa's village

* Huskvarna, Ovidiu lived there few years as a child

* bridge/tunnel connecting Sweden and Denmark

* visiting friends in Ostroda/Poland

* visiting Krakow

* visiting ex death camp Oswiecim

The route we made is just a rough route, and we are very flexible in changing it during our trip. All depends on our mood and information we get during the trip.

Accommodation: camping in "wild" as much as we can. In some of the town's we now there are some camps, but if we don't find any we will use hostel's or motel's. None of us is for any luxury, we all love to camp.

Our budget for this trip is around 1500 euro per person + bike. Somebody will think that we are crazy if we think that we will manage with that, but we know few people who made similar trip with similar amount of money. Bottom line here is the mathematics: fuel per bike is 600-650 euro, ferry's + tunnels + bridges are around 300 euro per person + bike. The rest is 500-600 euro for food and drink, and that is around 30 euro per person.

What we did until now:

* we have invitation letters, and soon we will make our Schengen visa's for Europe

* we have almost everything to ware and carry

* motorcycles are ready

* Computer Shop from Temerin will sponsor us with 100 euro per person (for me and Joseph)

* Pegaz MM from Novi Sad will sponsor us with one Garmin Zummo GPS and 2 Scott oiler's

What we have to do more:

* we need to find tents. That should come from one of the sponsor's but if not we will buy them

* money - we are negotiating with few companies for sponsorship in money to cover fuel, ferries, tunnel fee's and bridge fee's

* we expect from our company to loan us one camera to make a movie about this trip

* if our plan's about those sponsorships will be OK, then we will have to gather money for food and drink
